You may want to fold it back in warmer nights but it does not trap heat as polyester does.The cover is bright white & does have a pattern on it. Best to keep this in a duvet since should only be cleaned once per year.Dry cleaning recommended.This does not have a "fowl" odor like duck duvet inserts can have.Would recommend those contemplating ordering this one,don't hesitate.Came in good time!Very nice
