Bob Dylan, barely 20 years old, plays harmonica and harmonized with Big Joe Williams on Howlin' Wolf's "Siting on Top of the World" and on "Wichita." Bob Dylan loved Big Joe Williams and Big Joe Williams loved Bob Dylan and they used to play together on stage at Gerde's. If you listen carefully on "Wichita" you will hear Big Joe call out "This is Big Joe, and Little Junior's blowing' his harp" and later "Play for me." Victoria Spivey, who owned the label and performed on this LP, only let Dylan perform because Big Joe asked her to. She said afterward that "Dylan's a born genius of a musician." I only wish this album was available on a CD, possibly remastered, although the recording quality of the LP is just fine. I'm just old and still play CDs, and LPs.
